Abstract:

Twenty six patients with gunshot injuries of the spine were evaluated. Most of them had associated lesions and a high percentage died. We propose a classification that integrates the major variables impinging on the outcome, prognosis, and treatment of this type of injuries. Neurological lesions and less frequently instability influence on surgical indication. Associated lesions have an impact on morbidity and mortality.
